Jamming With My Friends

Being with my friends is one of those things that make me happy. I enjoy every moment with them. They are like a family to me. Because of this, hing-promise ko na before ako pupunta ng Manila, I will spend even just one night with them, jamming, like that.

We agreed to make it on Dec. 8 and I would just sleep at their boarding house, of course with the permission from my parents. I knew my parents would let me, since it is also the boarding house where my elder sister lives. It was around 8pm when we decided to go to the reclaimation area. The two of my friends agreed to buy drinks (redhorse), just for fun, even though me, my sister, and one of my friend didn't drink. Only the two other friends did drink alcohol. All in all, we were five. We talked about lovelifes and family matters. We had so much fun. Since we got more fun, we didn't notice the time, and suddenly it was already 11pm. We remembered that the curfew time for the boarding house is 10:30pm so we run and run the way to the house. As we arrived there, we were catching our every breathe. We just laughed at ourselves for what we had experienced. And good luck, the bording house was still open. If closed, oh no, we would have to sleep outside, which would probably been really interesting but dangerous at the same time. Hehehe! We just continued our talking and having fun inside the room, but of course with soft voices since the other boardmates were already sleeping.

I really had a good time with them. I can never forget every moment with them. They made me enjoy my staying in Maasin. Right now I am in Manila, but I'm looking forward to the activities we will do whenever I'll go home. I miss them very much!

Criminology Day in SJC

Every year, all the course departments of SJC (Saint Joseph College) celebrate their day or what they call departmental day. It's a little bit the same with the Loyalty Day celebration since a department is divided into groups which compete into sports and literary to get a trophy. Tungod ane, magkabonding ang mga student sa mga nagkalaing-laing year level. Dahil sa ito ay magastos, they change it from departmental day into Convocation. Dito, naipapakita ang iba't-ibang talento ng mga estudyante. There were no more competitions here. Just for an entertainment.

Dec. 6, I was with my friends. We intended to roam around the Maasin City proper. We were in front of the school when we noticed something nice inside the campus. It was a program. As an "out of school youth", we missed that kind of activity so we enter there and watch the event. It was a convocation of the criminology department. Of course, as a filipino, we expected lots of dancing and singing presentations and we can say that it was amazing. We filipinos love comedies, so there was also comical skit which makes the program more fun. Participating in that program is cumpulsory so the students are forced to have their presentations. Kadtong dili katigo musayaw o mukanta man lang, sa comical skit nalang sila sumali para lang magkaroon ng partisipasyon. Naa pod uban nga miapil gayud sa sayaw o kanta bisan dili kamo. Tingali, it was there own way of entertaining the people.

We really get enjoyed watching it. We must say that, criminology students deserved a standing ovation. This is not a joke. I am sincere for saying it. They are really the best. Criminology students are one of the best performers in the school. Josephinians are the best. They really know what the people are looking for when it comes to entertainment. God Bless!

About the difficulties to write in Cebuano

As you read my blog entries, you may notice that I'm started writing some entries using Cebuano language. Then, I translate everything what I wrote in my entries. I found it a little bit easy to translate. On the other hand, composing my entries using Cebuano, is difficult for me.

Given that Cebuano is my native language, you may wonder why I find it difficult, but I have my reasons. First, I don't know the right spelling of our words since we are not being taught in school how to write it. Also, we do not learn its formal grammar in school. We only learn by speaking it. Second, there is the youth language (that I always use) and the language spoken by older people. Often, I don't know the best word to be used since there are many words that I don't know which are used by the old folks. In fact, sometimes, when me and my mother have a conversation in Cebuano, there are words that I don't understand. Then I just ask the meaning of it, and she just laughs at me. Hahaha!

To ease those difficulties, I have decided to just write in English with a mixed of Cebuano or maybe Tagalog language sometimes. Through this, I will be able to use the three language that I know.
